Tell us a little about yourself.
Sarah Coperine & Michael Hund
How did you guys meet?
We met while working at Paul Newman’s The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children with serious illnesses in Ashford, CT. We were both counselors and it was summer love at first sight!
We both have deep roots with this organization and it will continue to inspire us for the rest of our lives. We can say as first hand witnesses that The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is an incredibe organization that is truly life changing for not only children battling serious illnesses but also their siblings, families, health care providers, the staff, and countless others. All services are provided completely free of charge.
Where was your first date?
Our first series of dates was an interesting array of events. We went from an unofficial date at Mohegian Sun casino, to a fancy night out on the town at Olive Garden (we had no other choices we promise), to a romantic evening at a Drive-In movie theater in the Connecticut country.
How did he propose?
On a beautiful fall day, Michael created an elaborate web of circumstances to get me up to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. After an incredible day of hosting Camp’s variety show, seeing our closest friends, and visiting all our favorite local spots, Michael asked me if I would like to take a stroll on the path where we met. We reminisced on our memory of this same walk more than four years ago.
As we arrived at a secret spot with the most gorgeaous view of the lake, Michael dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes! And just in case I thought nothing could be better in the world, he escorts me to a paddle boat waiting on the shore. We set sail out to the middle of Pearson’s Pond and I was serenaded by a song Michael had written for this occasion. Once the song ended fireworks urupted above our heads (he had a whole crew orchestrated on the beach across the lake).
I was then whisked away to a romantic stay at the neighboring Woodstock Country Inn with rose petals and champagne waiting. Best. Day. Ever!
